farmhouse
Set
well back from the road, “The Retreat” is surrounded by 1 acre of landscaped
garden including a productive vegetable garden, herb garden and orchard. Fresh
produce from our garden is a feature of Colleen’s home cooking.
“The Retreat”
is less than 2 hours driving time north of Auckland Airport, on Highway 1.
If you have
never been close up to a sheep, do it now, as we always have friendly pet sheep
to hand feed. “The Retreat” is a small-scale working sheep farm (between 40 and
70 sheep depending on the season) but here you get to meet the sheep.

Colleen
is a spinner and weaver and always has hand crafted woollen items for sale from
her studio at “The Retreat”.
As
well as looking after the farm, Tony is a keen photographer and is very
interested in New Zealand history. Tony and Colleen are both researching their
family histories.
Our
families have been in New Zealand for several generations and we have visited
most places in our beautiful country, so if you have any questions on what to
see or do we are well equipped to provide the answers. We are also
well-travelled world wide so understand what it is like to be in a different
country.
We have
welcomed guests to “The Retreat” since 1988 and look forward to your
visit.
